We spent a lovely couple of days with Penny and Howard and just got back home. Penny has been getting rid of some "stuff" prior to her move to Howard's and we were able to take a patio set and ceiling fan off her hands! We drove from here to her place in Toronto and packed the items in the truck and then drove to Howard's. Howard offered us a really nice dresser (which we'll put in our guestroom), so we unpacked the patio furniture to keep in Howard's garage until we can get back up there. Then, we loaded up the dresser to bring home now. Bern also spotted a long, low unit in Howard's basement that has a couple of file drawers and shelves (perfect for his office) which Howard doesn't want, plus he's giving us an old slot machine for our basement which we're turning into a games room. We have a TV down there already and we're planning to put up a dart board - so now we have a slot machine - YAHOO!
We had a very nice dinner of NY steak, mashed potatoes, squash (yuk), green beans and corn. Brad stopped by and BBQ'd the steaks for us - they were perfect! During the afternoon, Pen had made an apple crumble, so we had that for dessert with cream. Then, we got down to the serious business of "hand and foot". Penny and I beat the boys hands down!!!! Of course, the tide turned today when we played again, but the victory was sweet while it lasted. We got up this morning and had breakfast before we brought the cards out again. We really did have a good time. It was so nice to be the guests for a change.
James called to say that he was in bed with the flu. We had planned to stop in to see him on our way home today, but he sounded like he'd rather just stay in bed and sleep so we came straight home. We stopped at Harvey's for hamburgers and are currently trying to digest them! I can't remember the last time I had a hamburger - now I know why.
