Home again!

Well, we're back home after a lovely weekend with Penny and Howard. We stopped in at James' work Friday on the way, for a quick hug! Penny had been baking and cooking for a few days before we got there. We had an awesome homemade lasagne with salad and garlic bread. She had make brownies, apple pie and shortbread cookies - by the time we left on Tuesday, everything was gone! We must have had a break-in - we couldn't have possibly eaten it all ourselves!!! We played cards until it was time to go to bed.

Saturday, we spent a quiet day working on our scrapbook pages until the real estate person called to say there would be a showing between 5:00 and 6:00. Since we had planned to leave for the engagement party by 6:00, we were all showered and ready by 5:00 so we could leave earlier if we needed to. Nobody had showed up by the time we were to leave so we left all the lights on in case they came later.

The engagement party was a huge success. Bern took tons of pictures. There were about 36 guests in all counting children. It was good to see everyone. We were back home by midnight and, it turns out, the real estate person never turned up.

Sunday, we had made plans to go see a house Howard and Penny have on the top of their list. It's very, very pretty. There are a lot of nice features, but also some things that would need to be changed - whether or not they would want the expense of doing renovations on a new house. The man who owned the house, was in the process of having it built when he suddenly passed away. He had made changes to the original design to accommodate his wheel chair. Anyway, some things got left out like a linen closet, a bathtub in the main bathroom, walk-in closet changed to a small closet in the master bedroom. I loved the hardwood floors, the kitchen, dining room and the living room - stunning! Brad and Nev met us there, since they hadn't seen the house yet. They invited us back to their house for dinner.

Nev made us a wonderful meal of pasta and sauce, caesar salad and garlic bread. We had a lovely visit and just as we were leaving, Bella woke up and was irate that nobody woke her up sooner. You should see her nursery! It's so cute - all pinks and browns and white. There's a mural of apple blossoms in one corner and a spectacular designer lamp (base is a white pony). They've done a beautiful job.

We got back in time to watch "The Amazing Race". Everyone went to bed at 11:00 and I stayed up to watch Desperate Housewives. Monday, the guys had to go to the hardware store for lamp parts, and when they got back, Pen and I went through the pictures of the engagement party and emailed everyone she knows copies! Around 4:30, we all got ready to go out for supper - we had incredible fish and chips!
The restaurant is called "Henry's" and it definately rivals our Oakville "Tartan Fish and Chips" (our favourite). After supper, we went to Penny's church for a concert performed by Lorraine Hartsook, a country gospel singer from Saskatchewan. What a wonderful time we had! This lady has a powerful voice and testimony. It was great!

We were home by 9:00 so we were able to watch "24" and "Heroes". They don't usually watch a lot of TV, but they're very good about letting us watch our shows when we visit. The boys crashed at 11:00, so Pen and I settled down with a big bowl of popcorn to watch "The Bachelor". We're so bad, I know. Oh well.

Tuesday, after breakfast we played cards again, had lunch and then came home around 1:00 p.m. It's nice to go away, but it's very nice to be home.
