We got an offer!

The people that came back a second time to see our house, have made us an offer on the house. Of course, they came in lower than the list price and they're asking for a February 28th closing. We signed back for a later closing date and raised the selling price. We should hear in the morning.

In the meantime, we spent the day with our real estate agent in Brantford. We saw several houses. One of the houses in Brantford was gorgeous, but it was a little chopped up, the living room was quite small and the basement needs to be renovated. It was really nice, though, and we went back to see it a second time.

Then, we went to Waterford where we saw an awesome house. It's brand new and is the first house of a small development of five houses. The builder has done a beautiful job building this house and the only thing we weren't crazy about was the laminate flooring in the kitchen/dining room - but, that can be changed. The basement is unfinished (or "unspoiled") and is huge. It's a bungalow and is 1400 sf and the basement is also 1400 sf of usable space. It's an energy efficient house, which is very important to us. Anyway, Waterford is kind of out of the way - only 7 minutes north of Simcoe and 20 minutes south of Brantford. The town is kind of cute and I'm sure we'd have no trouble fitting in.

Our agent treated us to lunch at Yin's Chinese Food in Waterford - this restaurant is quite well-known in the area for great food and we weren't disappointed!! So, if we do move to Waterford, we'll have a good place to eat.

Well, that's it for now. Until we firm up the offer on our house, we won't be doing anything about the new one. Stay tuned.
