After a wonderful weekend in Massey, we're home at last! We had a great time at the annual Massey Fall Fair. We watched tractor pulls, a demolition derby, horse draws and motocross races! We ate far too much fair food, but I made it through the weekend without funnel cake! On Sunday evening, we went over to Jim and Jackie's. She'd made a ham, potato salad, cheese and salami tray, crackers and chips. We had a rousing game of Hand and Foot (a practice hand and two more hands) before we had to leave. Poor Lise had got too much sun and suffered sunstroke. She was pretty sick Sunday night when we got back to the farm. She needs our prayers as she suffers from fibromyalgia (sp?) and arthritis, which is very debilitating. She's had a pretty good summer and counts her blessings every day.
We have so much to be grateful for! I talked to Fran today and her friend Deanne, from work who has the brain tumour and who just had a baby boy, is doing very well. The doctors say the tumour is benign and appears to be shrinking, so surgery may not be necessary! Not only that, but the baby is showing no signs of problems. Do we serve an awesome God, or what?
I talked to James when we got back last night. He says his new job is awesome! He's very busy and loves it. He sounds so happy, which makes me happy, too!
Fran's sister, Ginny, arrived in Canada for a 2-month visit so I'm hoping to have the girls out at some point for a few days (maybe while Bern is moose or deer hunting). Fran invited us and James for Thanksgiving this year. Jan was going to have it, but is having surgery on her eye a few days before, so has passed dinner onto Fran. Please pray for Jan - I know she's a little worried.
Speaking of eye surgery, Howard had surgery on one eye last Friday to remove a cataract and had a corrective lens inserted. Bern talked to him today and he said the surgery went well. They will do the other eye later this month.
Aunt Laura's husband, Will (93) had hip replacement surgery a month or so ago. The surgery was very successful, but he's now having leg problems - swelling. Please keep him in your prayers, too.
