Rained out!

As expected, the pouring rain cancelled our golf game on Thursday, so we've rebooked it for two weeks from Thursday. Since our pass expires on September 30th and cannot be extended, we will golf come hell or high water! And, since we're golfing with our Pastor and his wife, the hell part should be ruled out...right?

We had a wonderful evening, though. Christine and Rene invited us over for an evening of cards and munchies. Bern and Chris teamed up this time and won both games of Hand and Foot over Pastor Rene and me. We were good sports, all things considered - like a definite lack of playable cards all evening.

The happy winners!

The sad losers!

Friday afternoon, Shirley and I pickled beets. It's a lot easier than I thought it would be and I can see us doing it every year. She says she gets a bushel of sugar beets every spring and pickles them. Since they're just little, it saves the cutting up part. We might split a bag! Anyway, it was fun and we ended up with seven nice bottles of beets which will be ready to eat in about six weeks.

We talked to James the other night. He said they buried Luke's ashes last weekend in a small intimate ceremony. He said it was quite emotional for everyone, which is understable. Luke's parents have big plans for James in their company and James is very excited at the chance at a career. He sounds so upbeat and content and I just want to thank everyone who've been praying for James - especially his granny...thanks, Mom.
