We spent a quiet new year's eve eating snacks and watching movies. We actually got through two movies: The Astronaut Farmer and the last Mummy movie. The astronaut movie was quite good - no swearing or blood and guts. The Mummy movie was pretty much a waste of time. We enjoyed the first two installments a lot - oh well! Brent called from Taiwan where they'd already welcomed 2010 eight hours prior to us and then we called James at 11:15 in case we decided to go to bed before midnight. He had a couple of his buddies over. We managed to stay up to see the new year come in.
Today, we went to visit our friends Judy and Herman in Ancaster. If you've ever been to our cottage in Northern Ontario, chances are good that you would have met them. Their cottage is the big, beautiful log home just down the road from ours. Anyway, we left here in a blizzard, but by the time we got to the QEW, the snow had stopped. As usual (and I say that because we've been going to their home for New Years day for the last few years), we had an amazing dinner - ham and all the fixings. Their son, Matt and daughter, Emma were there with Emma's boyfriend Phil and her daughter Victoria. Victoria will soon be five and is a little delight, talking all the time and so bright! We had such a good time.
