Neighbourhood party tonight - such fun!

Tonight, we enjoyed a little get-together for the neighbours on our block and as a welcome home for the people we bought our house from. Laurie and Rick are visiting from New Zealand with their two little boys. They are a lovely little family and Laurie was eager to come over and see what we've done to "her" house! She said everything looks so cozy! We had a great time. Stu and Sheila, our next door neighbours, have a huge home so we all fit in their massive recreation room with space to spare. We had a great time!

We're planning to spend a quiet New Year's Eve by ourselves. We have some movies to watch and some snacky-type things to eat. Hopefully, we can stay awake to see the new year come in - although, I've come to realize that it will happen whether I stay awake or not!

Judy and Herman have invited us to spend New Year's Day with their family. We've been going to their house for dinner on New Year's Day for a few years and then, last year Bern's eye was really bad and he ended up at the hospital. He's still on medication and has another appointment on January 5th. We're planning to travel North on the 7th to visit Jim and Jackie in Massey. We'll keep an eye on the weather, however! It seems like everyone is going somewhere warm for their holidays - Pen and Howard are meeting up with Brenda and Steve in Cuba; Lon, Karen and the kids are heading off to Jamaica on January 1st, Stu and Sheila are also leaving for Jamaica on the 1st. Wouldn't it be funny if they were on the same plane?

So, while they're all sunning themselves on the beaches of the Caribbean, we'll be freezing our butts off in Northern Ontario. Something's wrong with this picture!!!
