Bern went for a checkup the other day and came back with a big bandage covering his left eye. The doctor decided to do minor surgery, scraping away a pocket of infection on his lower lid caused by a sty that wouldn't come to a head. He looks like he's been punched in the eye, but the swelling is going down. He's back on medication since both eyes have contracted a fungal infection. Apparently, it's caused by dandruff or dry skin flakes - dumb, huh? He has to go back for another check up January 5th. We'd been talking about going to Massey for New Years, but now it looks like we'll be staying home.
Fran called this morning to say they won't be coming on Saturday. Heather is participating in a big craft show and Fran and Mike are helping her set up and tear down afterward. Heather makes the most incredible hair pieces using felt, feathers, sequins and all kinds of materials. I asked Fran to take picture of some of her creations so I can show you. Anyway, Fran and Mike are picking us up for church on Sunday and will spend the afternoon with us. We're really looking forward to seeing them.
