Sunday morning we went to church and then drove to Oakville to see James. He's still fighting a cold but has been working long hours so he wasn't too lively or chatty. He decided not to take the new job after all. Apparently, they weren't going to pay him any more than he's getting where he is, so he will stay there for awhile longer.

Around 4:00 p.m., we left James to go into Mississauga to the funeral home where the visitation was held for Bern's friend, Mike. It was so sad, of course. When we came through the line of family members, Maria grabbed onto Bern and sobbed, "You lost your hunting buddy....you don't have your buddy anymore...your buddy is gone." It was heart breaking. There were hundreds of people paying their respects - Mike was so well loved. We stayed for two hours and then we left to go to Howard's for the night so we could get up early for the funeral on Monday. We had nice ham and cheese sandwiches and tea and watched The Amazing Race and Desperate Housewives before going to bed. Penny wasn't there since she ballroom dances on Sunday nights.

The funeral was held Monday morning and when it was over, we drove back to Oakville, had lunch at our old restaurant in Hopedale Mall. We were greeted very warmly by the staff and owner - it was nice. We got home later in the afternoon - just before a horrendous winter storm hit. The wind was really rattling the rooftops, but the snow didn't stay.

I went out shopping this afternoon by myself. We seem to be joined at the hip lately and I just wanted to wander around a little. I think I was gone for about 2 hours. I did get groceries during that time, too, so it wasn't totally selfish! Now, we're just settling down with a cup of tea after supper to watch a little TV.
