Update on Bern's eye

We went to the walk-in clinic today - our doctor is on holiday until after the new year. The doctor who looked at Bern's eye put some drops in it and then taped it shut. He said it could be that the eye isn't quite closing at night and is drying out - there could be infection in it, too. The eye is blood red and watery!! The doctor put him on a round of antibiotics and wants his eye taped shut for two days. If it's not better in two days, he's to go straight to the hospital. Please pray it doesn't turn into something really bad.

Howard called today to confirm they're coming here on Wednesday. Penny said they're really looking forward to coming - their Christmas has been hectic and they're looking forward to some peace and quiet. Howard has a cold already, so he's not worried that we might give him one. In fact, he said he caught his from Bern at Nev's mother's funeral. Anyway, they will arrive around 1:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve. We'll probably stay in and play cards. I bought a spiral cut honey ham for dinner on New Year's Day. Pen's bringing some pureed pumpkin to make a pie with. I'm looking forward to seeing them.
