Wayne and Lise, Bern's cousin and his wife, arrived last Thursday afternoon and left yesterday afternoon. We had such a good time with them. On Friday, before the snow hit, we took them to Port Colborne for a lunch of fresh Lake Erie Perch and Chips - yummy! We got to watch a couple of big freighters go through the canal while we ate. The wind was pretty cold, but we did our best to brave the elements by sitting outside on a bench next to the canal to watch one ship go through before we gave up and headed for the comfort of our nice warm car. Then, we drove to Niagara Falls and viewed the rushing, ice-filled river and beautiful ice sculptures created by the water going over the Falls during the winter. Of course, we all forgot to bring our cameras!
The rest of the weekend was pretty laid-back - the weather was crazy so we just stayed inside and ate, watched movies, played lots of cards and generally enjoyed visiting. They love playing Hand & Foot, too, so we switched partners every now and then - it was great fun! We're planning a trip to Massey this summer - probably more than one trip, so we'll get to see them later in the year.
