Christmas was lovely! James arrived around 5:30 p.m. on Friday and we had a spaghetti supper with Caesar salad and garlic bread. We watched a movie, visited and ate goodies, of course. Christmas morning, James was the first one up and into his stocking. We put on a pot of coffee and put a meat pie into the oven (Shirley made one for us). Then, we opened our presents. It was lots of fun and everybody was happy with their little gifts. I was especially happy with our Romantic Overnight stay at WhiteOaks Convention Centre in Niagara-on-the Lake from James and my $100 gift card for Michael's from my husband - and, the sweet little gifts from Tammy and Brent!!! Okay....so I loved everything!
Around 2:00 p.m., we packed up pumpkin pie, whipping cream, plate of cookies and candies, gifts and wine and drove to Fran and Mike's before going around the corner to Jan and Paul's for Christmas dinner. After stuffing our faces with amazing food, we opened our "secret Santa" gifts. I got a Christmas decoration and a gorgeous Christmas serving plate. Bern got a beautiful neck scarf and a key chain with a clock on it - so nice! James got a book and a Canadian Tire gift card, which he was VERY pleased about. Next, we dove into dessert - oh boy! Everything was amazing and I ended up with a stomach ache - not surprising! My second cup of tea helped. It was after midnight by the time we got back to Fran's. We tried to watch TV for awhile, but sleep took over.
Today, on our way back home, we stopped in to visit with our friend, Herman. It's the first time I've been back in their house since Judy passed away last Spring. She was very much missing! She used to have that place looking like a Christmas picture postcard. Herman is planning to sell the house in the spring so his son, Matt is in the process of moving his things out. It's very sad, but they have to move on. Herman's going to come and stay with us for a couple of days after the holidays.
