Rainy Tuesday

Bern got home last night WITHOUT A TURKEY! I'm trying to be supportive - really! However, Wade got a huge turkey (close to 30 pounds), so when they decide to cook it up, we're invited to go help them eat it. They know about "brining", too. If Bern had got the turkey, Bev was going to walk me through preparing and cooking it. Unless Bern goes out again and brings one home, I won't have to worry about it for another year - Yahoo!

I went to a Christian women's monthly get-together this morning with my friend, Cathy. We met up with several of the little old ladies from our church and had a wonderful time. The guest speaker told of her son, Ben, who at the age of 19 was crushed under the car he was working on and sustained massive brain trauma, as well as oxygen deprivation. He was left in a wheelchair and with brain damage. She told how God was there with them through the tragedy and brought them through. Now, he paints abstract art which is beautiful and has been recognized by the Attorney General of Canada and his paintings are being displayed across the country. It was inspiring how God took a seemingly hopeless situation and turned it into something very special!

Pen and Howard got home from Calgary last night - tired, but excited to show us the pictures they took of the family out there. We're going to see them on Friday and will stay for Bella's baptism on Sunday. We'll come back home on Monday loaded down with lawn chairs, patio table base, a file cabinet and a slot machine (just for fun!) They've sold their house and need to find another one by September, which shouldn't be a problem at all. There are lots on the market right now.

Here's a page of Brent and James watching their Daddy build and paint a picnic table. You can just see James in the little seat to the left - really, he's in there!
