Stormy weather!

Well, we went to the evening church service last night. It turns out that during the summer, the morning service starts at 10:00 a.m. instead of 11:00. Because our church doesn't have air conditioning, the pastor feels an earlier start works better. We've been away, so we didn't know. Anyway, the evening service was great. There were only about a dozen of us there. Christine, 0ur pastor's wife pretty much led the service with prayer and music (she's so talented!), pastor Rene ran the A/V from the back of the church, and our Latino pastor, Pastor Sergio spoke about cults, in particular the Mormons - very interesting!

After the service, our friends Ken and Cathy invited us to go for coffee with them. Christine (another one), who I met at the Ladies Monday night Bible study also joined us. After about an hour, the sky turned black and high winds and torrential rains came. The lightening flash and the thunder boomed! A couple of teenage girls came rushing in, absolutely soaked to the skin. Everyone chuckled, glad it wasn't them who got stuck out there in the rain. The storm was great to watch - until the lights went out! Then, the staff of Tim Horton's asked everyone to leave since they were not allow to have people in the restaurant without power! By the time we ran to the car, we looked like drowned rats (and the teenaged girls we had laughed at)! Thankfully, the power wasn't affected in our neighborhood!

I had a lovely call from Karleen. She said she can feel she's getting better. God is so gracious. We're planning to visit them sometime this summer! She and Lou were down here (well, not quite down here - they went to Midland to visit Karleen's son, O'Shea) while we were up north, so we missed them. When we go to Massey for the Fall Fair, we will try to hook up. When I told her it was Mom's birthday, she said to please, please give her my best! She and Mom met a couple of years ago (the same time I met her) when we all went to Massey for one of Bern's relative's memorial service. That's when we learned Karleen had stage 4 lymphoma. Please continue to pray for Karleen's health, both physically and spiritually.

Well, I'm having a quiet morning. Bern's gone with his new friend, Ray to an auction in Barrie. He probably won't be back until sometime this afternoon. Whatever will I do with myself? Clean bathrooms, perhaps? Go to the mall, perhaps? The options are limitless!!!
