Friday night, we had our neighbours, Stew and Sheila and their two children, Christian and Sierra, and Bev (Dave, her husband has a bad back so stayed home) over for pie and coffee/tea. We had such a good time! Stew is the real estate agent who facilitated our purchase of this house. He was born and raised in Welland and is a real sports nut. He played Junior B and Junior A hockey and is a scratch golfer. Sheila is a beautiful little fire-cracker from the Philipeans. Bev is originally from Newfoundland and is delightful, too. We had lots of laughs and it looks like we've moved into a wonderful neighbourhood. Every summer, our little court holds a street party. Sheila said it's usually held at the beginning of July and when I told her we would probably be in Montana then, she said she would get the date changed to the end of July! How nice is that?
Bern cut the grass yesterday. If I can figure out how to post the "movie", I will!
Judy and Herman came calling on Saturday. They arrived around 11:30 a.m. just in time for lunch and were able to stay for supper, too. Bern BBQ'd pork chops - yummy! Wade came by during the afternoon to pick up the dining room set. Becky and the kids spent the day with Becky's mother. We had a nice visit and Wade enjoyed the last piece of lemon pie. The weather wasn't as warm on Saturday as it had been through the week, but Herman managed to sunburn the top of his head. They brought us a piece of Donn Zver pottery as a housewarming gift. It's a beautiful bowl and the colours are perfect!!
We went to First Baptist Church of Welland this morning. The Youth Group did the music this Sunday and were quite good. The pastor (Rene) is a very interesting speaker and is able to translate scripture into "easy-to-understand" terminology. He's doing a series on Revelation and today spoke about glimpses of Heaven - loved it! Next week is Women's Week so all the music will be provided by the ladies of the church. The following week will be a regular service. Everyone was very friendly and the pastor is very much involved with his congregation. I know we said we would try several churches, but so far, I like this one.
After church, we went to a Home Show and gathered up lots of information from soup to nuts, landscaping to plumbing. We met lots of people. Now we're just relaxing watching golf on TV.
