Before I tell you about the surprise 50th birthday party we threw for our Pastor on Saturday, I have to share this little story of what wonderful neighbours we have. While our guests were arriving for the party, our next door neighbours, Sheila and Stew decided to spruce up our front garden with beautiful black mulch. Stew brought it by wheelbarrow while Sheila got down and dirty spreading the stuff all around our plants. We are truly blessed!

We had a wonderful time - our yard was full and the kids (and a few adults) enjoyed the pool. We had a tight bocci ball tournament going and a rousing game of croquet. Most of the ladies brought salad dishes and Bern and Ray cooked up corn, hotdogs and hamburgers. Scott, our fabulous church cook, prepared roast beef and gravy and supplied fresh buns to serve it on - yummy! Everyone had a great time, including our Pastor! He was expecting to come to our house for a BBQ but didn't realize the party was for him. He said he really felt loved - that was the point, eh? Anyway, it was a lot of work, but worth it all. Bern never stopped working all day. I made myself sit down a couple of times to visit and to eat - it would have been rude not to, right? Here are a few pictures.
