On our way!

Saturday morning, we started on our journey to Montana. Just outside of Barrie, I got to drive as far as just before the Sudbury bypass. It gave Bern a little break and it was a break for me as well. We got to Massey around 3:00 p.m. Wayne and Lise were expecting us and Jocelyn and Andre dropped by for a visit, which was really nice. Lise had prepared a lovely roast beef dinner and by 11:00 p.m. we were ready for bed!
Lise, busy making our wonderful roast beef dinner
On Sunday, we went over to visit with Lucienne and her sister Tunie, who has been staying with her for a few months and who we haven't seen for a couple of years. It was nice to see them both.
Cousins - Lucienne, Bern, Tunie and Wayne
Next, we stopped by Jim and Jackie's for a cup of tea. Jackie got a new laptop, so we got very excited about getting it set up for Skype, but for some reason, it wouldn't work! The computer has Windows 8 on it - maybe it had to do with the setup of a Microsoft account. Anyway, I didn't have enough time to figure it out!

Wayne and Lise have horses and are also boarding a couple of beautiful paliminos that recently gave birth to pure white foals - so cute! Before supper, we got to spend some time with them down at the barn. Love horses!

We got back up to the house to discover that the chicken breasts she'd taken out of the freezer the day before for supper Sunday night, were still frozen solid!! We were forced to order pizza - it was wonderful! We played Hand & Foot - Lise and I mounted a come-from-behind charge to beat the boys!

Today, we got packed up and started out toward Sault Ste. Marie when my cellphone started beeping. There was a voicemail message from my cousin in Wisconsin saying that Mom was in the hospital and that I should phone my sister-in-law. I called Cec and she told me that Mom has pneumonia. She had fallen at her house on Friday and was in so much pain that she thought she had broken some ribs. When she went to the hospital for xrays they discovered the lung cancer mass on her lung has doubled in size since Christmas. There were no broken ribs, so the pain is the result of the cancer. Please pray for her. Can't bear to think of her in pain!! Cec says she's in pretty good spirits despite everything, but she doesn't have much appetite for anything except her coffee.

We're just relaxing in the Days Inn in Marquette, Michigan. We traveled through lots of forest area along Lake Superior to get here and some of the critters we saw were a coyote, some turkeys and a sand crane. We had an awesome supper at Perkins. As we walked in the front door, we were greeted by a display case filled with scrumptious strawberry desserts! We managed to have supper first, though. Waiting for us and our cup of tea is a huge strawberry/rhubarb muffin (fresh baked!) that we brought back to our room. For supper, Bern had a huge chicken pot pie and salad. I had a monster honey mustard crunchy chicken salad - it was so good! Did I mention that Bern also had a piece of strawberry custard pie for dessert?

Tomorrow, we will continue our journey ending up tomorrow afternoon in Carlton, MN. We are taking our time and are having a very nice time. Will write more tomorrow.
