Wednesday night, we joined some folks from church at the Blue Star restaurant for supper and fellowship. We had a wonderful time! The food was good, too. Pastor, Christine and Austin are on their way to Nashville for a week's holiday. Then, they will go to a cottage in Collingwood and will join us for a few days at our cottage on August 22nd.
Our August is getting busy! Rebecca and Payge are here this evening. Payge does Irish dancing and has a competition tomorrow in St. Catharines and it starts at 8:00 a.m.! They live in Brantford, which is about an hour and a half from here. We had hamburgers for supper and Becky brought a raisin pie - yummy! Payge demonstrated her dancing and then Becky and Payge played "Unchained Melody". Just look how grown up Payge is getting!
Then, we'll have a week and a half by ourselves (we're invited to Ray and Shirley's cottage on Pickerel Lake) for a visit. Ray and his wife live here in Welland and their cottage is about half an hour from ours!! Small, small world. The next weekend, Pastor's visit and when they leave on Monday, Bern's former secretary, Kim and her husband, Terry are coming up for a few days. We haven't seen them for quite awhile, so that will be fun.
Lonny and Karen are bringing their family up on the last weekend in August to see what they think of it. We won't be there so they can get a more realistic idea of our kind of quiet cottage life. We will be going to Massey that weekend for a memorial service for Bern's cousin, Joe Richer, who passed away a couple of years ago. It's also the weekend of the Massey Fall Fair, which we haven't been to in years. It will be nice to reconnect with family we haven't seen in awhile. And, of course, to spend time with Jim and Jackie.
Tomorrow's the wedding. Teresa is the daughter of Bern's Italian friend, Mike, who passed away earlier this year of brain cancer. This wedding will be bitter sweet as we all remember Mike. However, in the tradition of Italian weddings, there will be more food and dancing than normal human beings are accustomed to - YAHOO! I'll tell you all about it when we get back on Sunday night.
From the wedding, we will go to Brad and Nev's for overnight and part of Sunday. I'm really looking forward to seeing little Bella - and, of course, her parents, too. I'll take more pictures. We're planning to go back up to the cottage on Wednesday and will have to update this blog from the Burks Falls library, as usual. I sure hope they got it fixed!
Well, that's all for now. Thanks to everyone for your prayers for my Mom. We both appreciate it very much!
