Weekend fun - now, to the lake!

Penny and Howard got here yesterday around 1:30 after touring the Niagara peninsula! They took a couple of wrong turns and ended up in Niagara-on-the-Lake! They final arrived bearing gifts - a basket of peaches and an apple pie. We had lunch and then spent the afternoon visiting. Penny and Howard are having a great time together. Howard's wife passed away last year of lung cancer, and Penny has been a widow for about 10 years now. They're planning to go to Las Vegas in September and then they have a cruise planned after that. It's nice to see Penny so happy!

We enjoyed a nice supper at the Urban in Fonthill. Good company, good food! After lots of hugs, they went their way and we came home to watch baseball on TV. We hardly ever watch the Blue Jays - except when Mom's here. I don't know how she KNOWS when there's a baseball game on, but she does! There's usually nothing else on anyway and now we're finding ourselves bonding with the team again.

Bern's outside cutting the grass, Mom and I went for a little walk this afternoon and are now watching golf. We're pretty well packed up to leave for the lake in the morning, with just the last-minute things to pack up, like the cooler and personal items. I'm looking forward to going up now. All my scrapbooking supplies are in the trunk of my car - hurray! Mom and I will drive up together and Bern will follow in the truck.

Brent and Tammy are planning to join us at the cottage on September 4th, we'll leave on the 5th, and they will stay on until the 8th. Mom will fly home on the 7th so we'll need a day to do laundry, get all the bits and bobs packed up. Her flight is at 8:55 a.m. and since we're another hour further away from the airport than we used to be, we'll be getting up very early! Anyway, that's another day.

We talked to Jim and Jackie in Massey this afternoon and will look forward to seeing them at some point during the summer. She is, after all, my adopted "older" sister!! Well, unless something really interesting happens today, I won't be adding to my blog for a few days - until we go to the library in Burks Falls.
