New video!

My BFF's came out for a little R & R last Thursday. They arrived in time for supper - it turned out that Jan had to work until 5:00, and with rush hour traffic, they got to Welland in time for turkey pot pie (sorry, James!), broccoli salad and strawberry pie. We managed to get in a game of "hand & foot" after supper and then decided to watch a movie - "Safe House" with Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.

Friday, we were hoping to get some nice sunny weather so we could enjoy the patio and pool, but alas, it was dark and gloomy and then in the middle of the afternoon the downpour started! It rained and rained and rained!!! And, I don't mean drizzled, either - we could hardly see across the street and the sunken patio at the back of our house started to fill up with water. I had to go out with an umbrella in one hand and a broom in the other to sweep dirt and grass away from the drain! We decided the only sensible thing to do was to play cards since we couldn't really go outside anyway. It was Mom's 89th birthday so we called her and sang "Happy Birthday". I think she liked it!

Around 4:30 the rain slowed and we decided to have an early supper at the Log Cabin Restaurant (a favourite!) instead the late lunch we'd been planning. It worked out very well indeed. The food is wonderful there. They'd made massive renovations to the restaurant since the last time we were there and they did a very good job, too! We had to follow up our meal with a visit to the gift shop next door, where Maggie was able to find three Christmas gifts - good job! Fran got some gorgeous earrings and Jan escaped with a beautiful candle. Then, back home for a "hand & foot" marathon.

Saturday morning, we got up to sunshine. Maggie and I had our coffee on the deck while Fran and Jan snoozed away.

We all went to Benedict's for breakfast. It's a tiny little restaurant, but has the nicest staff and the best breakfasts in town! Then, it was back home for more cards before it was time for them to leave. Bern came back from fishing with Wade before the girls left so everybody was happy to see him, too.

Sunday, Bern and I went to church - and, what a rousing service! It was almost like being in a Southern Baptist revival meeting! So fun and uplifting!!! After church was the church family picnic, followed by a pick-up baseball game at the park and then back to Pastor Rene and Christine's for some poolside visiting. A great day!! Christine and I are going to the Log Cabin tomorrow for lunch - Yummy!
