Bern brought home a big bag of pickling cucumbers the other day so I took the bull by the horns, got on the internet, found a couple of recipes - one for bread & butter pickles and another for baby garlic dills. It wasn't too hard to do, just took most of the afternoon. Bern swooped in just in time to pack the jars for me. We got 4 big jars of dills and 7 pints of bread & butter pickles. This is practice for next week when the peppers and beets will be ready for pickling!
Last weekend, after church, we went to the Marshfield Heritage Festival. It's a very neat event in that there's a village made up of historic buildings, furnished as they were at the time. There's an old one-room schoolhouse, a Methodist church, blacksmith shop, carpentry shop, newspaper and general store, etc., etc., plus many, many craft vendors and classic cars! It was pretty neat!
