First of all, Ginny is doing remarkably well! Thank you all for your prayers for her. She went home one week following her surgery! Unheard of, but she's determined and is getting on with life. She will be doing therapy for awhile, of course, and will be learning how to manage with a prosthetic leg when the time is right and all the healing is complete.
My friend, Dawn's daughter Kristen had a beautiful baby girl called Abigail and while she is a healthy baby, she had some issues with feeding - so, still please keep them all in your prayers. Dawn has Parkinson's disease and any stress at all is bad for her. This whole pregnancy and extended birth has had a toll on her, too.
The prayer list doesn't get any shorter, does it? My niece, Liz, suffered a miscarriage yesterday. She'd been in extreme pain for some weeks and now the doctor has discovered she has a large cyst, the size of an orange, which may be attached to an ovary. She's waiting for an appointment in Billings where the doctors there will determine if the cyst is benign, and prescribe the next steps. Liz has three children, the youngest is only 5 months old. Please keep her, her husband Gerald and their kids in your prayers.
We had a lovely, albeit short, visit with Brent, Tammy and Nikki last week. Brent's mother and step father paid for their trip to Canada for two weeks because they were unable to go to Taiwan like they'd planned to in January because of illness. We got to spend part of my birthday and part of Nikki's birthday with a whole day in between, together! We picked them up in Orangeville on the 19th, came back to James and Stephanie's in Oakville, and spent a lovely afternoon and evening with them. Fran and Jan came over with birthday gifts for Nikki - gorgeous outfits! So much fun!!
Brent, Tammy, Nikki, Bern and I came back to Welland and had a wonderful day together. Got to spend lots of time with Nikki when Brent and Tammy went shopping at the Mall. Nikki and I walked from store to store admiring everything from clothes to stuffed animals. She was so good - she gently touched items and pointed at things, squealing with delight! ...until we got to the greeting card rack! Then, she couldn't pull them out fast enough! It was a race to get them all back in their correct spots before we were noticed!
We came home and enjoyed a nice roast beef dinner, which Brent had requested before their visit. He enjoyed it - so did Tammy! There were NO leftovers! We had a little birthday party with a cake for Nikki's first birthday. She opened gifts - lots of clothes, which she proudly carried around showing everyone. She got books and two stuffed mooses!! Then, our friend Ray came over with a big stuffed bunny! Good birthday!
The next day, we had breakfast, got packed up and stopped in Port Credit to pick up a package for Brent's friend Paul back in Taiwan. His sister lives in Port Credit. Then, we stopped at a Mr. Sub for lunch and then back to Orangeville. It was very hard to say good-bye!
I talked to Brent and Tammy last night and discovered that they had all got food poisoning last Monday night at a fish & chips place. Brent got the worst of it and went to a doctor for help. He was told to go see his own doctor in Taiwan when he gets back because there might be something else going on! Add another name to that prayer list....please! They leave for Taiwan on Saturday and we're praying they have a better trip back than they had getting here! Pictures on the way.
